Ortega Discloses He's Close To Full Health And Fitness

During a recent meeting with The Schmo, Ortega supplied the most up to date update on his recuperation timeline ahead of his go back to competitors later on this year.

Over 8 months on from suffering the injury, "T-City" revealed exactly how close he is to being gotten rid of for a go back to full training. From there, he's excited to get a battle reserved, regardless of the name written on the spell contract.

"I'm excited. I can't wait to be back soon," Ortega said. "Right now, I've got three weeks left of just working through the process of these training scenarios, and things that I'm doing right now. But three weeks to a month is what they finally are giving me to say, 'Hey man, you can finally just train full blast.' So I've got a month left of that.

"Anyone that my manager says we gotta do it with, that we gotta fight, then that's what it is. I'm ready. I've never backed out of any fight, and I'm excited to come back," Ortega added.

With his regrettable loss to Rodríguez last year, Ortega finds himself riding the very first losing skid of his profession. However his 2021 loss was definitely not one that harmed the 32-year-old's stock.

Generally event of UFC 266, Ortega tested the reign of Alexander Volkanovski. While he eventually experienced a convincing loss on the scorecards, they didn't mirror simply how close Ortega came to having the lightweight gold wrapped around his midsection.

Upon his return, Ortega will seek to make his back to the title for his third chance at rising the divisional mountain. And if he earns an additional fracture at Volkanovski, "T-City" will certainly hope to secure an even tighter guillotine or triangle choke this time around ...
